Justice Moshansky was appointed to head the Dryden commission of inquiry into the 1989 crash of Air Ontario Flight 1363. His team’s exhaustive investigation resulted in Transport Canada making revolutionary changes to aircraft de-icing procedures, saving countless lives. For his role in the investigation, he was awarded the Transport Canada Aviation Safety Award.

In 2005 Justice Moshansky received the Order of Canada, the second highest order in all of Canada, it recognizes the outstanding merit or distinguished service of Canadians who make a major difference through lifelong contributions.
