Professional Background

Born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Ryan received his Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. Before attending law school, Ryan completed a Bachelor of Arts in history at Mount Allison University and a Master of Arts at McMaster University.

As a law student, Ryan volunteered with and later coordinated the Wills Project, a pro bono legal information and wills drafting program with Pro Bono Students Canada. As well, Ryan spent one summer working with the Nova Scotia Workers’ Advisers Program, which gave him experience in personal injury law and workers compensation. After law school, Ryan completed his articles with the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Justice and Public Safety, and then was hired on as a solicitor before relocating to Calgary.

Ryan embraces our core value of empathy. He understands that clients come from a diverse array of backgrounds and personal experiences, and that it is important to understand and empathize with our clients in order to properly advocate for them.

In his free time, Ryan enjoys hiking, reading, and competing in pub trivia.
