It was 39 years ago today that a young lawyer by the name of Larry A. Litwiniuk, only 2 years out of law school, founded the firm that bears his name. With help from his wife and co-founder, Marianne, who was pregnant at the time with their second child, he leased a small office on 17th Avenue SE in the Forest Lawn district of Calgary, and hung out his shingle. At the time it was a dream, and they had no way to know that Litwiniuk & Company would eventually grow to be Calgary’s largest boutique personal injury law firm.
Many things have changed at Litwiniuk & Company since 1976. Though Larry always had an interest and knack for personal injury law, at first he took whatever files came through the door to support the business and his growing family. But his passion was always helping victims of injury accidents rebuild their lives and get the treatment, help, and compensation they needed and deserved. By 1980 he was able to narrow his practice to reflect his passion, and from that point forward the focus of Litwiniuk & Company has been solely personal injury law. The firm, only a block away from its original location, has grown from one lawyer to nine, from one office to an entire building, and from serving residents of greater Forest Lawn to serving clients from Calgary, Edmonton, and across Alberta.
Larry and Marianne continue to maintain an active role, even as the next generation of the Litwiniuk family steps up to lead the firm. Their eldest son Todd is now the Managing Partner, their middle child Fred is the Director of Business Development and Marketing, and their youngest and only daughter Holly is the Social Media Coordinator. Though much has changed in 39 years, much has remained the same: the principles of service, trust, and hard work upon which the firm was founded are alive and well.
Congratulations to Larry, Marianne, and the entire Litwiniuk & Company family on 39 years of excellence in personal injury law. Here’s to 39 more years of being the law firm of choice for injured Albertans.
