Legal Assistant – Summer Student
Overview of the role
The Legal Assistant – Summer Student will work with a variety of team members throughout the office and primarily assists with the Administrative Services and Pre-Litigation Legal Assistant teams.
How you would contribute to our team
- Front of House duties including answering phone calls, and greeting clients and office visitors
- General maintenance and organization of client files including filing documents electronically, pulling/putting away files, preparing closed files for storage
- Scan paper documents in line with paperless client file process
- Work with Student-at-law on the flow of client files to manage deadlines for Statements of Claim
- Assist Legal Assistants in binder preparation for pleadings, undertakings, etc
- Assist in maintenance of overall facilities and technology
- Prepare and tear down meeting room set-ups for Questionings and client meetings
Other Duties
- Other additional administrative and office facilities duties as required
What We Are Looking For
Technical Competencies:
- Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office
- Prior experience in Proclaim, Copitrak, or PC Law is an asset
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills, grammar and spelling

Minimum Education and/or Experience:
- Completion of 1 year of Legal Assistant Diploma/Certificate from a recognized institute (SAIT preferred) or equivalent
- High School Diploma
- Prior experience in a professional office environment
Assets:
- Commissioner for Oaths
- Prior experience in a professional office environment
- Verbal/written second language outside of English
