We’re Here for You During the COVID-19 Crisis

Apr 3, 2020

There is a lot of uncertainty in the world right now. But one thing is for certain – we’re here for you. At Litco Law we remain ready, able, and prepared to serve you during this time. We’re in this together and, as a community, we are flexible and resilient. We continue to be amazed by and grateful for the level of commitment and positive spirit that we’ve seen amongst neighbours, coworkers, friends, and the community during this difficult time. While it may feel like a lot is out of our control right now, we are here to ensure your personal injury needs are met and ease the burden for you. We remain dedicated to providing you with the same great legal services and client service that you expect from Litco Law.

If you’ve been injured in an accident and need treatment, you might be concerned about getting access to medical care during the COVID-19 crisis. You may also be worried that you won’t be able to access funds, medication, or medical benefits from your insurance company. During this time, many insurance companies are still open, as well as certain clinics. We understand the difficulty of being faced with such an unprecedented crisis, while also suffering from a personal injury. Our dedicated team can help you access benefits and get the treatment you need. All hands are on deck and we are set up to work remotely and handle many of your biggest concerns over the phone. We want to give you the peace of mind knowing that your claim will be taken care of. Your medical treatments and funding don’t have to be put on hold.

Here’s a breakdown of just some of the ways we can assist you during this time:

🤍 We know what clinics and services remain open and can help you navigate your treatment and claim, as well as help you get treatment;

🤍 We help with Section B claims, ensuring you have access to the coverage and treatment you are entitled to, crucial income replacement benefits, and helping you making a claim;

🤍 We are skilled in assisting with vehicle property damage claims if you have any questions or concerns in that regard;

🤍 We take care of speaking with defence insurance adjusters so you don’t have to;

🤍 We are always available – whether it be a dedicated Case Manager or Client Care Specialist, you will always hear from us every 30 days;

🤍 And of course, you can always reach out to us at any time with any questions you may have.

In light of the current situation, nearly all of our teams are working remotely. We remain fully operational and able to support clients on all matters thanks to advanced and agile working technologies and preparedness. We take your safety and the safety of our team very seriously, not only during the COVID-19 outbreak, but always. The safety of our team and our community is our first priority. When necessary, in-person meetings can be made by appointment. These will be held with the utmost precautions in keeping with World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines and following the procedures of our Emergency Preparedness Plan. At this time, the following meetings will continue via telephone or videoconference:

  • Initial consultations
  • Settlement discussions
  • Questionings
  • Mediations
  • Wills and estates consultation
  • Real estate consultations

We know that the threat posed by the spread of the COVID-19 will result in some of our clients facing unexpected financial challenges and receiving a settlement sooner than later could make all the difference. It doesn’t cost anything to speak with a personal injury lawyer at Litwiniuk & Company, and you won’t be charged any fees while your claim is in progress. We’ll also pay all disbursement costs including expert reports and any other expenses that are necessary to reach a settlement, regardless of how long it takes. In some cases, we will work with your medical providers to see that you are not charged for their services until such time as we settle or bring your case to judgment. Our fees will come out of the money we recover for you, and we will cover all expenses until the claim is resolved. Put simply, we don’t get paid until you get paid.

It’s been incredible to hear stories from our clients about how our team members have been there for them during these difficult times. We had no doubt that our team would continue to show the same high levels of kindness and empathy in the face of uncertainty as we do when things are normal. From connecting a client with a clinic to helping to them get the financial support they are entitled to; we love hearing about these bright spots.

LOCAL LOVE IN A GLOBAL CRISIS

These past few weeks have tested our resolve. Yet, during these unprecedented times, we have also seen so many positive examples of the strength of spirit amongst Calgarians  – kindness, generosity, and determination. Calgary is a caring community. We’ve shown that together, we are stronger. Social distancing requires us to be physically distant but, more than ever, we are coming together to support one another. This is a time when we can choose to adapt in ways that bring out the best of us, in the worst of times. The crisis has revealed how much we all rely on our connectivity – whether staying connected to our workplace, checking in with friends and family, or random acts of kindness. We will get through this by staying connected, adapting, and giving back to the community. In keeping with this, we want to share the following great local resources:

  • 211 is a service that helps Albertans find the right resource or service for any issue they might need help with. The service is free, confidential, and available in over 170 languages. They are available by 24/7 by phone or texting 211. You can also visit ab.211.ca for online chat daily from noon – 8 p.m.
  • If you are a senior citizen, or you know a senior citizen who is looking for helpful information or resources, you can call 403-SENIORS (403-736-4677).
  • Enough for All is also helping to provide Calgarians with information about financial resources available in response to COVID-19.
  • YYC COVID-19 Volunteers Facebook group, and VolunteerConnector offer excellent volunteer opportunities to promote community connections and kindness during COVID-19.
  • Calgary Blood Services is in need of blood donors more than ever during this crisis.
  • Calgary Humane Society has introduced online adoption for pets in need of homes.

CONTINUING TO SERVE YOU

As personal injury lawyers, helping people is at the heart and centre of who we are. We also know that, particularly in times like these, it can make all the difference to have someone fighting in your corner. At Litwiniuk & Company, we are here for you and we are committed to supporting you in any way we can. Thank you for understanding as we adapt to social distancing and the measures which are meant to keep us all safe. We encourage you to take care of yourself, your loved ones, and your community. Together, we will get through this. Stay safe and stay strong.

And remember, “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light” – J.K. Rowling
