Remembering Edward Pipella

Nov 9, 2014

It is with sadness that we mourn the loss of a great Calgary personal injury lawyer, Edward Pipella Q.C.

“We called him the Dean of Personal Injury Law,” says Larry Litwiniuk.

“I did my articles with his great friend Ernie Shymka, and Ernie always spoke very fondly of Ed to me. After I started Litco Law and began to focus on personal injury law, Ed was a mentor to me. I was junior counsel, and he was senior, and I sought him out a couple of times for help and advice. He was always very helpful and very generous with his time and knowledge.”

Though Litco Law and Pipella Law are competitors in Alberta’s personal injury law market, there is nothing but a healthy respect between the firms, and indeed they share many characteristics. Larry’s son Fred and Edward’s daughter Tara attended law school together in Cardiff, Wales.

“There are very few law firms where there’s a father and two of his children working together,” observes Larry. “It’s clear that the family bond is strong. We are honoured to be in great company with Pipella Law in that regard.”

On behalf of Larry Litwiniuk, the entire Litwiniuk family, and the team at Litco Law, we wish to pay our respects and offer our deepest most heartfelt condolences to the Pipella family on the unhappy occasion of Edward’s passing.
