Mother’s Day in Calgary: 8 Ideas

Apr 30, 2021

mother's day

Life doesn’t come with a manual, but it does come with a mother. If you’re lucky enough to have an inspiring maternal influence in your life, it’s time to show ‘em some love on Mother’s Day next Sunday, May 9. Whether they are a grandma, a foster mom, a surrogate mom, a mother figure, a mom-to-be, or just someone who is doing all the things we count on moms to do— they deserve some special recognition! Keep reading for 8 ways to celebrate Mother’s Day this year in Calgary.

Mother’s Day Dinner from the Best Western Premier

Any dinner that ends with a chocolate mousse bomb is a good dinner in our books. Hit the Best Western Premier Calgary Plaza Hotel & Conference Centre for some tasty Mother’s Day takeout! Available May 8 and May 9 between 3:00pm and 6:00pm, this 3-course meal is priced at $90 for 2 people or $180 for 4 people.

Afternoon Tea from the Best Western Premier

Not into dinner? Try high tea takeout instead! The Best Western Premier is also offering an affordable $75 service for two, complete with cucumber sandwiches, cranberry brie, shrimp salad, and smoked salmon. Also included: your choice of savory quiches or sweet pastries (and, of course, tons of tea!). Place your order by May 6 at 12:00pm to guarantee your spot.

Dinner at Home from Gather Catering

Flowers and mint julep cocktails? Count us in! Gather Catering’s 4-course, $55 per person menu is available to order by 2:00pm on May 6 for delivery/pick up on May 7/8, and delivery only on May 9. Start with some amazing mini crab cakes, then spice things up with a salmon or steak Niçoise salad. You can also dabble in fun add-ons like spring floral bouquets from Blue Hydrangea Floral and wine and beer selections from City Country Wine and The Establishment Brewing Co!

Custom Charcuterie from Johnny & Glo x Grow & Co.

Nothing says “I appreciate you, mom” like a laser-engraved charcuterie board! That’s right, you can customize a gorgeous hickory or walnut board with any phrase you like. Pair it with a charcuterie or dessert box and a hand-tied bouquet of flowers for roughly $120-150, and you’re golden. Johnny & Glo’s gift sets can be ready anytime from May 6 to May 9!

Mother’s Day Picnic at Bow Valley Ranche

It’s finally patio season (we hope), so treat your special momma to an exceptional picnic in the great outdoors! Bow Valley Ranche is doing Mother’s Day right with an a la carte menu available on their veranda and their extended lawn patio. Book on OpenTable for May 8 or 9, or order their fine dining delivery service to chow down!

Mother’s Day Family Dinner from Deerfoot Inn & Casino

They had us at melted chocolate. Deerfoot Inn & Casino is packaging up their hospitality (including fondue!) for you to pick up and enjoy at home this Mother’s Day. Made ready to serve, their dinner’s priced at $49 per person plus tax (minimum order of 4 people), with pick up times from  12:00pm – 5:00pm on May 9. You don’t even have to leave your car to get a taste of beet salad, truffle parmesan potatoes, decadent gnocchi, mini cupcakes, and more!

Mother’s Day Brunch/Dinner from The Calgary Zoo

For a wilder take on Mother’s Day, try an animal-approved brunch or dinner from The Calgary Zoo (available for pick up on May 8 and 9). From their fresh-glazed cinnamon buns to their 12-hour braised AAA beef short rib, there are endless savory and sweet options to choose from. Just make sure you order by 12:00pm on May 6 to snag your meal!

Brazilian Brunch from Pampa Brazilian Steakhouse

The options are endless at Pampa! Their Mother’s Day offerings include brunch, lunch, dinner, and to-go packages. If Brazilian-style French toast with dulce de leche sauce sounds good to you, order brunch by May 8 at  12pm to pick up on May 9 from 11:30am – 1:30pm. If you’re more in the mood for bacon-wrapped filet mignon, order by May 7 at 9:00pm to pick up on May 8 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm or May 9 from 11:00am – 6:00pm.
