Here at Litco Law, we think it’s cool to care about our clients and our city. From local initiatives to charity work and volunteering, it’s important for us to give back to the communities that have supported us since day one… and for this caring team, nothing beats kindness. So today, we’d like to highlight one of the charities that is most near and dear to our hearts: the Calgary Drop-In Centre.
Who is the Calgary Drop-In Centre?
The Calgary Drop-In Centre is an organization devoted to ending homelessness. More than just an emergency shelter, they provide health services, employment training, and housing aids to anyone who needs support. By connecting people to permanent housing that meets their individual needs, they hope to assist all Calgarians in finding their way home.
How is Litco Law involved with the Drop-In Centre’s mission?
Litco Law firmly believes that everyone deserves a home of their own— so we have committed to supporting the Calgary Drop-In Centre with quarterly donations. Every 3 months, we will sponsor a monthly or bi-monthly meal for those in the emergency shelter’s care. This will equate to 9 additional lunches for the year, or 6 dinner services, that the Drop-In Centre may not have otherwise been able to provide for at-risk individuals. Additionally, once COVID-19 restrictions have lifted, Litco Law intends to have volunteers go in to help serve those meals!
How can I get involved?
The Calgary Drop-In Centre accepts gifts-in-kind, and posts critical items they could use throughout the year via social media. The Litco Law team supports these requests, and we encourage you to do the same! As the COVID-19 pandemic poses continued risks to in-person volunteers, gifts and donations are a great way to get involved. However, volunteering is still an option at the Calgary Drop-In’s Donation Centre, with increased safety measures in place.
